Long Pose

Last week we dropped in on another live drawing class. This was a two hour pose and it became an opportunity to work on soft lighting and heavy volume. Everyone took a different approach with a different medium for this model - charcoals, painting, tablets. One artist in particular used a variety of hot-color pastels in combination with a strong charcoal outline. I want to look further into this technique...

Spring Paintings


Spring (2010)

With a new season fast approaching ...in a town that doesn't have seasons :), this painting is the first of many new Spring paintings. I'll have to reshoot this since the lighting was too hot on the flowers and it's a longer painting that needs to be shot with a tripod, but in the interest of sharing new works....18x36" Acrylic on canvas.

Blueberry Lake (2009)

This was a piece I did, much like my Baja tribute, after camping with the Lains in Alaska.
"Chugach and Wrangell-Saint Elias ranges converge in what is referred to as the "mountain kingdom of North America." This spectacular wilderness includes the continent's largest assemblage of glaciers, and the greatest collection of peaks above 16,000 feet." 20x20" Acrylic
